Therapeutic Alliance refers to the relationship between a therapist and a client. There is evidence that a strong therapeutic alliance predicts better outcomes in therapy. In fact, some studies go as far as to say that a strong and trusting relationship between the client and therapist matters more than what “type” of therapy is being used. A strong therapeutic alliance is evident when the client feels comfortable with the therapist, has a sense of common goals or purpose with the therapist, and feels a sense of safety and trust in the therapy process.
